iOS 10 allows some easy adjustments so that you can
use your iPhone 7 to its highest potential. We present 5 hacks to use your
phone better.
The iPhone 7 was received with great
excitement last year, though the initial phase was also marred by a few tech
glitches. These have been sorted out since, and like other Apple products, the
iPhone 7 continues to delight legions of Apple fans all over the world.
But there are some hacks to know if you
want to make using the iPhone 7 an easy experience, such as:
- Remove default apps. We don’t need all the apps on the iPhone, and they take up a lot of space on the phone. The iPhone 7 lets you remove unwanted default apps – press and hold down the app. It will ‘shake’ at this point. Now tap the ‘X’ that appears in the top right corner to remove the app. If you want the app back, just go to the App store to get it.
- Clear all notifications with a single tap. There was a time when you had to plod through your Notifications to remove them one by one. But with iOS 10, you can delete the entire day’s notifications at once. If your phone has 3D Touch, you can clear all notifications in one swipe by pressing down the X on any notification for some time.
- Enable automatic display turn on. Your iPhone 7’s display gets activated if you just pick your phone. To enable this feature, go to Settings and choose Display & Brightness. Now slide your finger to activate ‘Raise to Wake’. Once you select this option, your display will light up every time you pick up the phone – no need to press any buttons if you want to check the time or go to Notifications.
- Turn off ‘Read’ messages for certain people. It is annoying when your text message centre shows a list of people who have read the texts you sent them. With iPhone 7, you can turn off the ‘Message read’ feature for specific people. Go to the iMessage thread and tap the ‘I’ button on the right. Now scroll down and slide to disable choosing ‘Send Read Receipts’ for that specific contact only.
- Add message effects. Long press the ˄ arrow, then choose between these options: Slam, Loud, Gentle or Invisible Ink. These options help you customise the message ‘bubble’ on the screen. If you want to view the iMessage effects, you must turn off ‘Reduce Motion’. Also, the effects you send will be visible only to other iOS 10 users.
